I have read numerous blog posts about about how to implement Facebook for Chiropractic Marketing and gaining many new patents from it. Many of those posts were written by people who have never practiced but call themselves social media and internet chiropractic marketing experts. The reality of Facebook marketing for chiropractors is probably not what you have read in a a past from different sources. This post is not about how to set up Facebook Page – for that you can find thousands of tutorials on Youtube. In this post I am going to try to break down for you what has been working in my practice and what has been a complete waste of valuable resources. Just like a technology Facebook marketing for Chiropractors is changing every year and will change as we move more and more to a mobile based internet. Adapting new trends is the key to stay a step ahead of your competition. Yes, a chiropractic office few blocks away from your office is your competition. And if your neighbor is a step ahead of you they will eat your lunch and dinner.
Facebook is about people you know or knew. Our lives are very busy- family, work, vacations. Today people have very little time to interact with each other in person. People Text, D.M. (Direct Message) each other, and post photos, videos and quotes on their time line. Others reply and comment when they have time to login into their Facebook account. People belong to different groups where they share common interests, people like business pages where they learn new things. Facebook offers several options of interaction.
1. Your Personal Profile time line:
This is where you interact with people who are your friends, family, co-workers. One shares personal activity on this profile – birthdays, traveling, certain accomplishments etc. Even though it is a personal profile people who are friends with you on Facebook know that you are a Chiropractor, therefore it eliminates the need for you to run any promotional activity here. However, if something new and exciting happened at your office you might want to share it on your personal time line – new service offered at your office, new accomplishments as a chiropractor etc. If you would like to add some professional value to your personal profile I would suggest to add D.C. abbreviation to your name. It will remind people of who you are and what you do as a professional.
2. Facebook Groups:
This is probably one of the most overlooked marketing strategies. Find a group on a Facebook that would have common interests with you outside of chiropractic profession. I am an avid cyclist and a member of several cycling groups in San Francisco Bay Area. I ride with these people, post cool photos and Strava.com rides on this group’s time line. Everyone in those cycling groups know that I am a chiropractor. When they or someone they know need a chiropractic care they keep me in their mind. They usually contact me via D.M. (Direct Message) on Facebook or those who have my cell phone text me or call me. Over the years Facebook Groups worked the best for my practice.
3. Facebook Page:
If you want people to see what you are posting on your Chiropractic Facebook Page those people must LIKE your page. There are several options for people to LIKE your Facebook Page.
Spend some money by advertising on Facebook. You can select specific geographical area or certain miles radius from your practice. Let’s assume you set up a 10-15 miles radius of advertising campaign from your chiropractic practice. All of the people who are active Facebook users will be ale to see your Facebook Page advertising on a right hand side of their computer screen. If they like or interested in what they see the will click LIKE button and will become a member of your Chiropractic Facebook Page. Whatever you post on your page in a future people who LIKEd your page will be able to see your posts on their time line. From my professional experience these type of Facebook LIKEs are not very effective. The reason is simple – these people do not know much about your practice or you personally. There is no bond or connection – the LIKE was spontaneous because it looked good in an advertising tab.
Your second option of getting more people to LIKE your Facebook Page is by writing nice blog post on your Chiropractic Website. When you publish your blog posts consistently and properly search engine optimize each post for your geographical area many people will discover your blog posts on the internet. If they like what they read they will share your content on other social media platforms and will either like your Facebook Page or will follow your posts on Twitter, LinkedIn or Google Plus. This will be an educated choice and this type of follower is much better to have than those who followed you because of advertising.
These are the main 3 chiropractic marketing tips for Facebook. Yes, Facebook has over 1 billion users world wide but your Chiropractic Practice is limited to its geographical area, maximum 10-15 miles radius. Your Chiropractic office and probably 10-15 other chiropractic offices in your area compete for the same pool of patients
