3 New Facebook Features for Chiropractic Marketing
1. Facebook Bluetooth Beacon
Facebook began roll out free Bluetooth Business Beacons. Chiropractic Facebook Page with an active content and growing number of likes will qualify for a Free Bluetooth Beacon. This is a chance for your chiropractic office to enter a free wireless market. Any current patient or anyone with a smartphone and Facebook account will get a notification on their phone and will be able to share this information on their feed allowing more people to discover your chiropractic office. These hockey puck sized devices have been going through a testing stage in New York City for a quite sometime. Now it is time that the rest of the country get a chance to use them. I just ordered mine last week and considering that Facebook Headquarter is only half an hour drive from my office I should be able to receive one pretty soon. I am very excited about this proximity-based advertising.
The beacons will offer:
- Prompts to like the business’s Page
- Check in reminders
- Recommendations from your friends
- Posts from the business’s Page
Some of your chiropractic patients will be irritated that the new feature is “polluting” their News Feed with data which may come off as an advertisement from your office. However, the good news is that you can silence the Place Tips by turning them off in the app settings.
According to Facebook, businesses using the feature have seen a steady uptick in Facebook page traffic from in-store visitors over the last six months.
If you’re interested in setting up Place Tips for your business, you can request a beacon from Facebook here. The company says that it is prioritizing businesses with active Facebook Pages, so start beefing up your page with photos, check-ins and status updates before you send the request.
2. Facebook Money Sending and Receiving.
Facebook just unveiled a new service that lets you send money via its instant messaging app, Facebook Messenger. It’s kinda like existing services from SnapChat, Square, and Venmo, letting you readily swap money other with people (as opposed to businesses) both near and far. But there’s a big difference: It runs on Facebook.
To send money:
- Start a message with a friend
- Tap the $ icon and enter the amount you want to send
- Tap Pay in the top right and add your debit card to send money
To receive money:
- Open the conversation from your friend
- Tap Add Card in the message and add your debit card to accept money for the first time
It is a bit tricky as messenger is not available for a Facebook Page. But if someone wants to pay for your services via Facebook you can easily become friends with that person, accept a payment and either keep that individual as your friend or delete him or her.
3. Updated controls for Page Feed
News Feed is a personalized stream of stories that you build from the people and Pages you’ve connected to on Facebook. The goal of News Feed is to show you the stories that matter most to you. To do this, Facebook is using ranking to order stories based on how interesting Facebook believes they are to you: specifically, whom you tend to interact with, and what kinds of content you tend to like and comment on. This is a great option for your Chiropractic Page. You can follow specific pages in your town – insurance agents, massage therapists, acupuncturist and personal injury attorneys for cross promoting purposes.
